LEVEL 2 CARBON ACCREDITATION – BRAZZAVILLE AIRPORT

MAYA-MAYA International Airport in Brazzaville is proud to be accredited for the second consecutive year by reaching level 2 (Reduction) of the ACA (Airport Carbon Accreditation). This accreditation is awarded by the ACI (Airport Council International) to airports that are committed to continuously improving sustainability in their activities by measuring and reducing their carbon footprint and involving their stakeholders.

Getting this accreditation implies that we are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our activities by meeting the requirements of the six ACA certification levels: “mapping”, “reduction”, “optimization”, “neutrality”, “transformation” and “transition”.

To get to the level 2, AERCO has implemented a carbon management plan. The actions already carried out have enabled a 4% reduction in the level of CO2 emissions, going from 1,559 tonnes in 2019 to 1,494 tonnes in 2021. The efforts made by AERCO will make it possible to achieve and even greatly exceed the 5% reduction in here 2024 instead of 2028 as planned in the initial plan.

By obtaining this accreditation, Maya-Maya Airport is now one of eight (08) African airports accredited at ACA Level 2.
